A warm & authentic celebrant
covering the East Midlands
About Me
As a history teacher for many years, I told the stories of famous people’s lives, bringing them to life for my students.
And now, as an independent funeral celebrant, I do the same for you, your family and your friends.

When I left teaching, it was important for me to still help people through key moments in their lives.
Being a funeral celebrant, and delivering a bespoke ceremony which resonates with your family and friends, is a privilege.

My Style
I believe that funerals are not just for the person who has died. They are for the living too. Ceremonies are a way to celebrate or remember the person who was an important part of your life.
I take the time to get to know your stories and memories, so that I can retell them with warmth and sincerity. Every ceremony is different. I take great pride in listening carefully to people and delivering a service specifically tailored to them, whether it has some elements of religion, or not. It’s your choice.
Together, we can decide on any symbolism, rituals, or quirkiness you’d like to include. Whether it’s a traditional ‘Abide with Me’ or ‘Burning Ring of Fire’, I can help you decide how best to celebrate their life.

If I were to describe my style in 3 words, it would be:
Supportive
Professional
Empathetic
FAQs
01
What is a celebrant?
A funeral celebrant, or funeral officiant, is a qualified person who officiates funeral services. Funeral celebrants typically help organise and conduct funeral services, supporting the family every step of the way with the aim of celebrating the life of the person who has died. Celebrant services are increasing in popularity as people prefer a more personalised funeral.

What can a celebrant help with?
As your celebrant, I will advise you about the format and content of the ceremony. I can help you choose readings, music, images and so on to commemorate the departed. I can also write and deliver a eulogy.
To do this, I will sit and have a chat with you, asking you some questions to find out more about their life. The tone of the eulogy will be directed by you, whether it’s a celebration of a life well-lived or a sad passing. This can be done at your home or at the funeral directors.
You will have the time to ask friends and family for their contributions before I write the eulogy. You will then pre-read my eulogy and have the opportunity make any changes.
On the day I will lead the ceremony and support anyone participating in the events e.g. reading, giving a eulogy.
